About Us
Keno Wildlands Alliance was formed by concerned residents of Keno, Oregon, in response to plans to industrialize sensitive forestlands just north of our town with a large-scale solar farm. While we strongly support the development of renewable energy, we believe it should not come at the expense of irreplaceable wildlands and the rich biodiversity they sustain. A solar facility of this scale would fragment critical habitat, threaten populations of fish, birds, mammals, reptiles and insects, and permanently alter the character of these forests. These lands are privately owned by Green Diamond, which has long partnered with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and local residents to manage the property in a way that allows responsible public recreation and access. We value this successful collaboration and want to see it continue for future generations. Our mission is to protect these wildlands from industrial development while working collaboratively with all stakeholders—including Green Diamond, policymakers, and the renewable energy sector—to find balanced, mutually acceptable solutions that safeguard both our natural heritage and the need for clean energy.
